The Truth About Beyonce Becoming Sasha Fierce

Have you ever wondered who Sasha Fierce really is? Or why is Sasha ‘fierce?’ In her own words Beyoncé said, “I have someone else that takes over when it’s time for me to work and when I’m on stage, this alter ego that I’ve created that kind of protects me and who I really am.” By this statement, Beyoncé was talking about her onstage personality – Sasha Fierce. I have a question here; who is Sasha Fierce? And why is Sasha ‘fierce?’ The answers to these two questions are what this post will attempt to reveal.

For clarity and ease of understanding I would like us to take it one after the other. Let’s begin with Sasha. The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian origin and means “Guardian of mankind” and it is mostly not used as a formal name but as a diminutive of Alexander and Alexandra. Sasha is used by both males and females and it is predominantly used for males in Germany where it is spelled ‘Sascha.’ Wikipedia stated that in the United States, Sasha is used exclusively for girls. It is therefore no surprise that Beyoncé has taken the name up and using it. President Barack Obama’s youngest daughter is also called Sasha and there is another female musician in the U.S.A. who goes by the name Sasha. I think Sasha is such a popular name in the United States perhaps because of its meaning.

The word ‘fierce’ on the other hand is defined by the Essential English Dictionary as something or somebody “marked by extreme intensity of emotions or convictions; inclined to react violently; fervid, ruthless, violently agitated and turbulent”

So if the name Sasha means “guardian of mankind” then why is Sasha ‘fierce?’ The image below offers some suggestions.

From the above photo, it is evident that Beyoncé in her simplicity looks very cheerful and not fierce, but Sasha is ‘fierce.’ What makes Sasha Fierce so fierce is the strong eye make-up and adornment of her hair. Someone might say, “Well that’s fashion!” I beg to say that such make-up and hair adornment is more than just fashion. Sasha Fierce’s shades-like heavy eye make-up represents the eye of Horus, and together with the hair adornment has been an age long ritual of witchcraft.

Truth or Heresy: Does God Want You To Be Rich?

There is a debate going on in the Church as to whether God wants us (Christians) to be rich or not. The issue had even gone farther lately as some Christians have started calling names and tagging preachers as false prophets and their churches heretic just because they preach what the accusing Christians call “prosperity gospel.” The aim of this article is to try to look at the issue from a scriptural perspective. Does God want you to be rich? What do you think? And what does the Bible say about your being rich? Let’s get into it! 

The Elders of Faith Were Rich

Abraham is seen as the father of faith. He gained that reputation through the faith he professed in God all the days of his life. In essence, God promised to make him the father of many nations. Those nations are now the many Christian churches who are following the example of Abraham, by professing the Abrahamic faith in the Almighty God. God blessed Abraham and he was a very great man in his day. Perhaps he could have been among the world’s richest men if Forbes.com were around then.

The Prayer of a Certain Rich Man

Have you ever been in a difficult and undesirable situation which you wish you hadn’t? Experience they say is the best teacher. However, it is not always refreshing to learn through experience. Learning through experience means learning the hard way, this as we all know is not something invigorating to do. At least, most of us had learned a lesson or two the hard way. We have learned from our mistakes, we have learned from our past experiences and past relationships with people. It should be stressed that, to some of us, most of what we know now are things we have learned the hard way.

While learning the hard way can be very beneficial, sometimes it can lead to deteriorating effects which are usually irrecoverable. For example, a young lady experimenting with sex may end up acquiring HIV/AIDS or Chlamydia which are incurable sexually transmitted diseases. The bottom-line is that the young lady may eventually learn her lesson the hard way, but she also may have already suffered an irrecoverable damage (i.e. her contraction of the STDs).

Often times when we go through difficult times we don’t only from our experience but we also become advisors and saviors for others, warning and advising them to learn from our lesson and experience, and not go through similar difficulties.

Well, it happened that a certain rich man found himself in an irrecoverably hard situation and having learned his lesson the hard way, he desired and prayed that NO ONE should be made to go through the same pain he went through and probably is still going through right now. Here’s the rich man’s prayer: 

“Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.” – Luke 16:27-28

And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

The word 'hamartia' (pronounced ‘ham-ar-tee’ah’) is the Greek word that was translated sin in the Bible. The word ‘hamartia’ literally means 'to miss the mark', or ‘to do something wrong.’ In Romans 3:23, the Bible says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Also in Romans 6:23 God said, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Let’s replace the word sin in these two scriptures with the literal meaning of the original Greek word 'hamartia'. In doing so we get something like: 

"For all have 'missed the mark', and come short of the glory of God. - Rom. 3:23. And also Rom. 6:23 becomes; "For the wages of 'missing the mark’ is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Someone might ask;

What is a complicated relationship? The Essential English Dictionary defines the word complicated as, “difficult to analyze or understand.” The word complicated can also be used to describe a problematical situation. A relationship is formed through mutual agreement between at least two people. Relationships always start off via mutual agreement between the partners involve. The partners jointly make the conscious decision to stay or be together, sharing each other’s pain and joy. When two people are in a relationship, or ‘in love,’ it is usually a “me and you against the world” kind of thing. Isn’t that beautiful? Well it is, until Mr. Complicated sets in, and when he comes, he turns every sweet thing into sour and blows off every fire of love. In a nutshell, a complicated relationship is one in which the partners had lost the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which was created at the beginning of the relationship, and thus find themselves disagreeing on the very things which brought them together in the first place.

What Does The Bible Say About Love?

What is love? In Mathematics; a problem, in History; a reaction, in Art; a Heart, and in Psychology, it is a feeling. So what really is love?

The Archbishop Duncan Williams once said, "If you don't understand something you can easily abuse it." This statement is very true. There is a big deal of misunderstanding about what love really is. “Love is beautiful, it is patient, it is kind, it’s not selfish and it’s not puffed up [arrogant] (1 Corinthians 13). In John 15:13 Jesus said "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." From the above scripture, we see love manifesting itself as sacrificial. Love has a great deal to do with sacrifice. To love someone means to like and cherish them both for their strengths and for their weaknesses and imperfections. A lot of people do not understand and accept love as an act of sacrifice. Many people see love to be fun. Of course! Love is fun. Besides the fun, however, comes sacrifice.

Giving and Receiving: What You Must Give to Receive Abundant Blessings from God

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” – Luke 6:38 KJV.

Obviously you may be familiar with the above scripture. You must have heard it being preached, or perhaps come across it during a Bible study. Personally, Luke 6:38 is one of my favourite scriptures. It is not my favourite just because of the blessings that it promises, but mainly because of the truth that it shares. In this post, I want to share with you what you should or must give so as to receive abundant blessings from God.

Before I continue, I want to apologize to all those who arrived on this page hoping I am going to share some cool tips; like give this, give that, and you shall be blessed bountifully. No! I am sorry. The truth however is that I am going to share with you some truth about giving and receiving. Let’s get into it! The truth I want to share with you is very plain and simple, and it is no other thing than the scripture I posted at the beginning of this post – Luke 6:38. Maybe we should take the scripture again, please, read the scripture more carefully this time round:

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Did you notice what we are supposed to give? It is ‘it,’ yes what you need to give in order to receive bountifully from God is just an “it.” I guess it’s funny, right? Wait! Here’s what the scripture said, “Give, and ‘it’ shall be given unto you.” In order words, Give ‘it,’ and ‘it’ shall be given unto you, in a good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over. The ‘it’ is what we are supposed to give in order to receive bountifully from God. It is as simple as that!

I think it might interest you to know; what is the ‘it’ that we are supposed to give and be blessed? The ‘it’ is everything and anything that you can give. Let’s take some examples. Have you ever wondered why Jesus admonished that when someone slaps you on one cheek, turn the other cheek for him as well? (Matthew 5:39) Think about it. It is because if you slap back, you will be giving ‘slaps’ and by the supernatural principle in Luke 6:38, you must receive whatever you give, in a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. Oh mercy! Imagine what slaps in a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over would do to a person. On the contrary, not slapping back means you’re showing mercy and by the same principle in Luke 6:38, you must receive mercy in a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. Oh glory! Imagine what it would be like being showered with all those mercies. Remember, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” – Mathew 5:7.

 

Another example…? Have you ever wondered why the rich continue to be richer and the poor continue to be poorer? Most economists and analysts say it is because of income inequality. I beg to say, that there is more to it than just income inequality. I personally think it is because the rich people give and the poor people don’t. And please, let’s bear in mind that the scripture did not say only Christians will receive when they give. There are blessings peculiar to the Church, but the blessings of Luke 6:38 is a general one and opened to anybody who gives. “Whatever a man soweth, that he shall also reap” (Galatians 6:7). Recently, Bill Gates ‘gave’ and committed $10 billion dollars for research and eradication of polio. Can somebody give me just one reason why this man will not continue to be rich and richer? 

Some people argue that poor people don’t give because they don’t have. Well, that is not always the case. My pastor, Pastor Fred Digber always asserts, “It is not true that you have money all the time, and it is also not true that you don’t have money all the time.” Think about it. God has the power to do exceeding and abundantly above all we ask or think, but he requires us to approach Him with faith. So far, I have seen only one instance in the Bible where man is allowed to provoke God – it is by giving our Tithes and Offerings. God said, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove [i.e. test/provoke] me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” – Malachi 3:10.

Recently, I needed about Gh500 (that’s like $500) to sort out something at school and didn’t know how to raise such money in the no time that I needed it. Then at Church the very Sunday of the week in which I would need the money, the Holy Spirit prompted me to give the money that I had. That day, I had Gh5 (that’s like $5) and some coins and I used the coins for the first Offering with the intention of keeping the $5. Then during the second Offering, I was hearing this voice that keep telling me, “Give that $5 you’re holding.” I tried to be a little stubborn and not give it but He continued, “What you have is nowhere near what you want, so why don’t you give it and trust God for a miracle?” So I acted by faith, stood up walked to the basket and dropped my last money into it. That same week, a friend gave me a check for Ghc600 (that’s like $500) just after telling him I needed money to do something. Trust me, the joy was boundless! Truly God is able to do exceedingly abundant above what we could ever ask or imagine. Glory to Jesus forever and ever!

Before I end, I want to emphasize that giving is not only about giving money. You can give whatever you have, including smiles and hugs and you will receive in a good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over, whatever that you give. So go, start giving! There are many young ladies and gentlemen out there who are looking up to God for a husband, yet they never smile to anyone. When you give a frown, you are surely going to receive a lot of frowns in return. Ladies and gentlemen, one smile could bring you a good measure of a ‘hi’ from someone, and one ‘hi’ could bring you a ‘how are you,’ and it could go on like that and before you know it you’ll be  having that special person you have always be praying for.

On Sunday, May 15, 2011, my church wanted to build a little structure to serve as a store room for our musical instruments, so the pastor decided to raise an offering to finance the project. He started by asking the members to pledge how much they could give to support the project. One after the other, the members were standing up and pledging the amounts they can give to support the project.

Suddenly, the pastor called out to me, “Bob, how much are you giving us?” Honestly, I didn’t want to answer that question. My pocket has not been smiling lately, and anything that has to do with money doesn’t go down well with me. The week before, I even had difficulty going for lectures because I was not financially fit. The pastor was still on me. He rephrased and reiterated his question, “Bob, how much are you giving to us?” Now that question cannot be dodged so I replied politely, “nothing, pastor.” “Nothing?” He probed. “Yes pastor,” I responded. He continued shortly, “Will you go to school tomorrow?” “Yes pastor,” I replied. Then he further asked, “How are you going to go?” “God will provide,” I said. Then to conclude he said, “Then pledge that which God is going to provide, will you?” I answered “Yes pastor,” and that closed the deal. My pastor added my name to the list of people who pledged and next to my name he wrote “God will provide” as the amount to be given.

The whole conversation with the pastor appeared very funny, but it was no surprise to me. God works in ways which sometimes appear funny in our eyes. Many people simply do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, because they think the whole believe in Him is funny. These people see the Lord only as a man, who was supposedly born by a virgin, grew to 30 years and was baptized and claimed he was the son of God. Then at 33, he died and was believed to have resurrected and ascended to Heaven. The difference with we Christians, is that, we are able to see beyond the human nature of Jesus, and thus able to see His Divinity. I have personally witnessed God do things through funny ways in my life. Funny ways like saying a word of prayer at the bus stop when I’m late for work or school, and suddenly a vehicle pulls up for me to board and go to school or work.

In the conversation with my pastor, I did not say, “God will provide” just for saying sake. I actually believed and knew the LORD was going to provide. That Sunday evening, a friend of mine came home and gave me some money for my transport to school the next day. And during that week, God truly provided by opening financial doors to me and I was able to give to support the church project the following Sunday. I felt really blessed and protected. It is very fascinating to know that the LORD our God is with us always and He hears us when we pray to Him. Truly “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” – Nahum 1:7.

Dear reader, I don’t know what you are going through right now, I don’t know what your needs are right now, or what you are lacking in your life right now, but what I DO KNOW is that, GOD WILL PROVIDE. Yes! He will provide and supply all your needs. Yes, “…God will supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19.

How To Overcome Sexual Temptations And Stay Sexually Pure Until Marriage

One day, a young Christian brother visited his beloved fiancée at home. As this young brother was sitting in the living room, his fiancée passed in front of him almost naked, and headed for the bathroom. The young man felt very uncomfortable with the rather inappropriate scene that he had just seen. Being the very spiritual man that he was, he instantly burst out with tongues and began praying profusely. Still praying, and with eyes closed, he felt a tap on his shoulder and upon opening his eyes… right in front of him now was his fiancée with no clothes on. Before he could say “Jack Robinson,” they were in another world. They fornicated and they both felt ashamed and disappointed because they had decided earlier to stay sexually pure until marriage.

Like the young man in the above story, every Christian, no matter his/her spiritual standing will have to face sexual temptation at least at one point in his/her life. Perhaps, the only exception would be if you became born-again on your sick bed and died afterwards. If not, then permit me to say that, every human being is vulnerable to sexual temptation. We are born curious, and it is that curiosity that causes us to take new adventures and try new things. That same curiosity if not tamed can be very deadly even to our own lives.


As mentioned earlier, almost every Christian at one point in our lives would have to deal with sexual temptation. What are the remedies available should you find yourself is such a situation? Should you pray like the young man did? What should we do when faced with sexual temptations? What does the Bible say about sex?

“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV

The scripture is plain and clear. Sexual sin is a sin against the body. And we are to flee sexual immorality. When God said flee, you don't stand and fight. The Lord our God would not ask us to flee sexual temptation if we could win the battle through prayer. When faced with sexual temptation, just flee; don't stand and pray. God said flee so you must flee!


In Ecclesiastes chapter 3, God outlined time and season for every occurrence under the sun. There is “a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck that which is planted” (Ecclesiastes 3:2). In the same way, I believe there is time to have sex and a time to flee from sex. The time to have sex is when we get married. In 1 Corinthians 6:18 quoted above, God is asking us to ‘flee’ sexual immorality. The best thing the brother in the above story should have done was to flee.

"A servant is greater than his master," Jesus said. If God says flee then you must flee. There are times in the Bible where God instructed his children to fight on, but when it came to issue of sexual temptation, He said, “run.” The LORD will not ask us to run if we would be able to overcome sexual temptation by praying.

As much as God hears our prayers, He also expects us to be obedient to His Word. And His Word says you should “flee sexual immorality.” No one can be too spiritual than God himself. And as a matter of fact, no amount of spirituality is enough to stand and fight when faced with sexual temptation. I believe that is why God instructs his beloved children to flee. Don’t hesitate and don’t anticipate, just run, run for your life! Let your legs help you as much as they could and run for your life!

Joseph Fled and So Must You!

The story of the Christian Brother at the beginning of this post is similar to the story of Joseph and Portiphar’s wife as recorded in the Bible. The significant difference between the two stories is that Joseph did the right thing; he fled. The Bible says, “And she[Portiphar’s wife] caught him[Joseph] by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled…”- Genesis 39:12.

Dear reader, Christian living is a call to holiness and purity. God's desire for every believer is that we will live sexually pure and holy lives. The Lord wants us to stay sexually until marriage. But how can one stay sexually pure until marriage in a sex-crazy world?


The Bible says we were bought at a price and thus must honour God with our bodies which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:20). Living pure for the LORD means we must win the battle against sexual temptations. The good news here is that we now know what to do when faced with sexual temptations. Do not hesitate, run! Run!! Run!!!
